Your Web 3 Guru and Moonbet presenting todays match: FC Volendam – NEC Nijmegen
After Vitesse managed to win again for the first time in a long while last week, and FC Volendam suffered a defeat against SC Heerenveen (0-4), the Palingboeren have dropped to the bottom of the standings. Volendam, with 57 goals conceded, is the most breached team in the league, and in three of the last four matches alone, they conceded four or more goals. Additionally, Volendam has only scored a total of two goals in their last six home matches.
All in all, there are few hopeful signs for Volendam, but the previous encounter with opponent N.E.C. can still evoke a bit of optimism. The Other Orange managed to secure a 3-3 draw in a crazy match with three goals in injury time on Nijmegen soil. Furthermore, despite their good form, the club from Nijmegen has failed to keep a clean sheet in fifteen consecutive away matches.
NEC Nijmegen
The weekend has yet to begin, but this is already a week to remember for the visitors from Nijmegen. N.E.C. reached the final of the KNVB Cup for the first time since the turn of the century by defeating SC Cambuur 1-2 in extra time. Rogier Meijer’s men had to fight for two hours in Leeuwarden for the victory, and the coach would have liked to see the league match on Friday evening postponed, but the KNVB did not agree.
When N.E.C. played a cup match on a Tuesday evening in early February (3-0 against ADO Den Haag), the team had to play an away match in the league just three days later, resulting in their only defeat in the last fourteen official matches (2-0 against RKC Waalwijk). If N.E.C. follows in RKC’s footsteps and secures a good result against FC Volendam, it unintentionally exacerbates the problems for archrival Vitesse.
Hot Stats
